VALISNO Vintners

PROUDLY ANNOUNCES ITS INAUGURAL RELEASE

2006 VIRIDITAS CABERNET SAUVIGNON

NAPA VALLEYHOWELL MOUNTAIN

VIRIDITAS:  (Latin, literally “greenness”) has been variously used to mean vitality, freshness, spiritual and physical health, and the greening force of life.

For the 2006 Viriditas, our inaugural release, we sourced grapes from the Howell Mountain appellation in Napa Valley.  This famous appellation, being at a higher, cooler elevation, is known for more finessed and elegant cabernets when compared to the intense valley-floor fruit-driven cabernets from Napa Valley.  That being said, this is still a very fruit-driven wine exhibiting a dark, inky-garnet color, strong black fruit components on the nose and palate, toasty coconut and vanilla notes from 15 months aging in new French oak, and supple silky tannins.

The fruit for this wine came from the Ink Grade vineyard in Howell Mountain, the same vineyard from which Behrens and Hitchcock sources fruit for its Parker-rated 95 point-scoring Ink Grade Cabernet Sauvignon.  We hope we have made a wine to the same exacting standards and quality, which also introduces new characteristics not previously seen from other Ink Grade or Howell Mountain wines.
